Career Exploration. Workforce Readiness. Real-World Possibilities.
Your Students Need More Than Career Information. They Need to See What Is Possible for Them.
Career exploration and workforce readiness that works without adding to your staff's plate.
Students are making decisions about education, careers, and their future long before they have all the information they need.
A career list or one-time presentation can introduce possibilities. But students also need to understand the skills careers require, the different pathways that can get them there, and how their own interests and abilities connect to what comes next.
Trailblazers gives them a structured way to do that.
The Problem
- Students are exposed to career information, but often do not know how to connect it to themselves.
- Many students still see college as the only pathway discussed, even though successful careers can begin through two-year and four-year degrees, CTE, credentials, apprenticeships, workforce training, and on-the-job learning.
- Students may not recognize that skills such as communication, problem-solving, collaboration, adaptability, creativity, and persistence transfer across many careers.
- Program staff need meaningful career-readiness content without another curriculum to build or heavily facilitate.
What Does Not Work
- Generic career content that gives students information without helping them connect it to themselves.
- Programs that require heavy facilitation, staff training, or extensive preparation before students can begin.
- Career exposure that focuses on only one route after high school.
- One-time activities that create interest but give students nothing to capture, reflect on, or act on afterward.
The Solution
Your program already has the students, the relationships, and the mission. Trailblazers gives you ready-to-use digital content that fits inside what you are already doing.
Students move independently through real stories, career possibilities, transferable workforce skills, application activities, and personal planning. Staff can use the results for follow-up conversations without having to teach a new curriculum.
Introducing Trailblazers
Seven Trailblazers. Seven Career Journeys. Countless Possibilities.
Trailblazers is a self-paced digital career exploration and workforce-readiness experience for grades 6 through 12. It is built around the journeys of seven accomplished innovators whose work opens the door to conversations about careers, skills, education, training, persistence, problem-solving, leadership, and opportunity.
Discover Careers
Students do not simply learn what each Trailblazer accomplished. They explore related careers and industries.
Build Skills
They identify transferable skills and apply what they learned through practical challenges.
Explore Pathways
They examine multiple education and training pathways and connect the experience to their own future.
Each module ends with a Career Exploration Workbook checkpoint, knowledge check, and digital badge.

What Students Experience
Real stories that make careers and possibilities easier to see and understand.
Career exploration connected to industries and occupations beyond a single job title.
Transferable workforce skills made visible in every module.
Exposure to multiple pathways, including college, CTE, credentials, apprenticeships, workforce training, and on-the-job learning where relevant.
Application activities that move students from learning about skills to actually using them.
A Career Exploration Workbook that captures interests, skills, pathways, and next steps.
Digital badges for completed modules and a certificate of completion for the full experience.
Seven modules. One connected career exploration journey.
The workbook turns seven individual modules into one connected career exploration journey. After each module, students capture:
- A career or career field that caught their attention
- A skill they already demonstrate
- A skill they want to strengthen
- An education or training pathway they want to explore
- One next step they can take
At the end of the program, students use those reflections to create a personal Career Map and Action Plan. This gives advisors, counselors, mentors, and program staff a tangible artifact for follow-up conversations.

If students complete Trailblazers and do not leave with a clearer picture of careers they can explore, skills they can build, pathways they can consider, and a next step they can take, the program is not doing its job.
Trailblazers can stand alone as a digital student experience or become part of a larger Second Mile Initiative engagement. Programs interested in live student leadership, career-readiness, or keynote experiences can connect with Jason Williamson, Ed.D. to build an additional experience around the program.

Jason Williamson, Ed.D.
Trailblazers was created by Jason Williamson, Ed.D., founder of Second Mile Initiative and a leadership consultant with experience spanning teaching, school administration, athletics, academic advising, and student development.
A first-generation college graduate and veteran, Dr. Williamson has spent his career helping students and organizations connect mindset, choices, leadership, and opportunity.
This is not about adding another program to your staff's workload.
It is about giving students a structured way to discover careers, recognize the skills they already have, explore multiple routes forward, and identify a next step.
Different interests. Different pathways. More possibilities.
Trailblazers helps students see what could be next.
